Clare of Assisi (1193-1253) ws the most important woman who emerged within the unfolding hisotry of the movement inspired by Francis of Assisi. She joined him in his search for a way to incarnate the powerful message of the Gospel of Christ in a situation of economic, social and ecclesiastical reformation. She has been revered through the centuries as his disciple, friend, and co-worker.
